Sunbelt Publications is holding a Spring Showcase on Thursday, May 14, from 5-9 PM at the O'Dunn Fine Art, a multi-artist show and author exposition featuring local Sunbelt authors. Brad Bruce, a professional wine procurer, will be pouring some high end tastings for the event which also includes books and paintings.

The following authors will be there:

Tom Hom: Rabbit on a Bumpy Road - Tom Hom is a pioneer who in 1963 made San Diego history by becoming the first minority ever elected to the San Diego City Council. Later, this Chinese-American won a seat to the California State Assembly. Among his many contributions, he helped transform San Diego's skid row into the vibrant Gaslamp Quarter Historic District and led efforts to establish the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum. Today, Tom continues to be an influential civic, business and community leader, and an inspiration to every generation.

San Diego California's Cornerstone - Iris Engstrand is Professor of History at the University of San Diego. The author of 18 books, papers, and monographs on southern California and Baja California history, Dr. Engstrand is recognized as the foremost authority on the history of San Diego.

The Rise and Fall of San Diego - Patrick L. Abbott is professor emeritus of geology at San Diego State University. Over 60 articles in various publications and more than 20 published books have given him a deserved reputation as a prolific author and a recognized authority on the geology of San Diego County. He is a popular lecturer and field-trip guide who is frequently called upon by the media to interpret geological phenomena to San Diego residents.

This Day in San Diego History - Linda Pequegnat is a retired research scientist in the field of Marine Biology who got her Masters from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. This book is her first endeavor in historical research about her favorite places in San Diego. Born in Indiana, she moved to San Diego in 1954, and now enjoys living in La Jolla.
